Gov. Okorocha Sacks 27 Local Government Chairmen In Imo State

Governor Rochas Okorocha has sacked the 27 newly re-instated local government chairman in Imo State from office. He also ordered that the chairmen should hand over to their respective director of administration and general services with immediate effect.



The commissioner for information and startegy in the state, Chinedu Offor made the announcement on behalf of Okorocha.The local government executives who earlier got an injunction restraining the state government from sacking them from office were jolted by the new announcement. Some of them said they would have another day in court with the governor.

However, we gathered that the reason the local government chairmen were sacked was the conviction on the part of the state government that their tenure expired on 8 August 2012.Offor, who spoke on behalf of the state government echoed this point.

Last Week, the LG chairman went to court and obtained an order restraining the state government from dissolving them.There will be another hearing at the Oweeri High Court to decide when the LG chairman actually expires.

A source close to the state house said “The LG chairmen want to be in office, enjoy all the benefits while they continue to seek injuction upon injuctions. What if the court rules that their tenue has indeed elapsed. Will they pay back all the benefits.They should step aside pending the determination of the suit”

Governor don vex ooo, maybe he don catch them for stealing and spoiling his government name cos I think Gov.Rochas Okorocha is trying to create a good name for himself in order to stand a good chance to contest for presidential election.
To me, he is one of the highly respected candidates Igbos can produce for presidency. I have been following this man before he becomes the Governor, he has been helping the poor children to partake in his free Education and scholarships programmes.  He even has a free college in Oyo state for the poor children.

He is far better than some rich men or politicians who steal our money and never do anything for the society. Abeg sack anybody that want to destroy your job

If the law allows it , the governor has the right to sack the the chairmen but they should be paid
the accrued wages from the period when they were elected to that office.
