SUBSTRCAT THE MONEY HE WILL FORFEIT FROM WHAT HE WAS ACCUSED OF STEALING AND HE IS STILL A BILLIONAIRE.OBVIOUSLY THE JUDGE WILL GET 40% OF THE LOOT FOR LIGHTER SENTENCE. AND SOMEONE WILL STEAL GOAT AND GETS 10YRS IN JAIL. WHAT KIND OF WORLD IS THIS.

It is not the term that is ridiculous but the alternative fine for the man who embezzled that amount of money.

When Will we ever get things right?

Someone is sentenced for life for stealing 50k, while another is granted 2 years and 250k bail. Huh?

If he stole billions, will 250k be a problem for him to provide.??
If there's a strict penalty of death by hanging for all these looters, i think they'll steal less.

God help us all.

what is 235 million to compare with 23.3billion. Now after 2 years imprisonment what will happen to the money. This kind of stupid judgment is what is pushing all these thieves to loot/embezzle our money knowing very well that there wouldn't be any serious judgment on them. If he is a poor man that steals goat he will be given many years to serve in prison. Yeye de smell

POLITICS IN NAIJA IS REAL BUSNESS OOO.
Where on earth will u steal such an amount and been ask to pay a fine of N25000, is as telling you to go home and enjoy the money with your family. Our Judiciary is a total failure. They have compromised their constitutional roles just bc of money. Lawyers in Nigeria hv no respect again. You still in Billions and settle in Thousands. Good Business. In economics it's call "Surplus maximization or Profit"

This is why Corruption in Nigeria will not witness Zero Tolerance. The judgement depicts signs of compromise.

If President Jonathan, the Judiciary and the National Assembly should allow this condemnable and despicable judgment to stand, we would have made our nation the laughing stock in the comity of nations. And it will tell the world our seriousness and commitment to fight corruption.

It is rather unfortunate that these bastards are allowed to slap us and still deride us openly for it. How can one conceive this type of judgment knowing full well that some old men and women have lost their lives waiting to be paid their benefits which ended up in the personal confines of these gluttons and someone who calls himself a judge of the Federal Republic of Nigeria will set the thief "free of charge"? Is this not enough a reason one should have confidence more in the Judiciary of UK and other Western nations than that of Nigeria? Who will blame Access Bank for instituting two legal procedures one in Nigeria and another in Britain against Capital Oil if the likes of Justices T. Mohammed and M. Awokulehin (of Ibori saga)  are allowed to still sit in the temple of justice in Nigeria. How can Barak/Hillary or Amanpour take President Jonathan serious when he goes out there to tell them he is serious in fighting corruption in Nigeria? How will crime not increase when those saddled with the dispensation of justice make a mockery of justice process and allow these crooked ones in our midst?
