THE Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND) has vowed to carry out more attacks.
MEND’s spokesman, Jomo Gbomo told The Nation last night that its fighters were battle ready.
The militant group said: “Our fighters only engaged them (policemen at Azuzuama) in a shootout and were not involved in the burning of their bodies. There will surely be more strikes, as we have some key strategic targets on our list.”
It was learnt that the militants, who held hostage Lucky Ebebi, one of the 12  policemen ambushed last Friday on Bayelsa waters,  actually demanded for N5 million ransom from the State Police Command, before it reluctantly accepted N1 million.
The driver of the boat in which the policemen were attacked has gone into hiding to avoid being killed by militants
