After a careful examination of the happenings in the country, former chairman of Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and 2011 Presidential Candidate of Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), Mallam Nuhu Ribadu yesterday concluded that Nigeria government is in a sinking ship under the leadership of tyrants.

This is just as he urged Nigerians to unite and stand up and save the country from the hands of tyrants.

Ribadu who was the keynote address speaker at a public lecture organised by the Students Representative Council of Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria at the university’s assembly hall, said “Nigerians must rise up to destroy agents of anarchy among us.”

According to the former EFCC boss, “since the unfortunate events of the Nigerian Civil War, we have existed as a nation struggling to forgive itself of the mistakes of yesterday, but while we struggled with this, our democracy has become modelled into an avenue where sentiments are highlighted by pro-exclusion politicians to corner the votes of their kinsmen because they cannot do so on grounds of their individual reputation or records.”

This careless stratagem he said, is a pathway to self-destruction begging for our collective, “and very immediate, effort at snatching our future from the hands of those who ride on such ethnic, religious and regional sentiments towards self-enrichment.

“The challenge ahead is enormous. The challenge is for us to form networks that will engage and destroy the evil missions of the exclusionists and agents of anarchy among us.
