Borno State Governor, Kashim Shettima has said that the government is gradually setting a stage for a comprehensive policing of the state by training volunteer youths popularly called civilian JTF in partnership with National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, towards.

The Governor stated this on Thursday, while flagging off the Borno State Youth Empowerment Scheme, BOYES, at the NYSC orientation camp in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital.

Shettima said government regards the youth volunteers, now BOYES, as the greatest assets of Borno because of their zeal and commitment towards ensuring the gradual return of peace in the state by sacrificing their lives for others to live.

“These youths have demonstrated extra-ordinary courage and love for Borno State. They are like soldiers who return from the war front and should be integrated into the larger society. We are training them to be conscious of the security situation around them. We are training about 632 in the first batch and after their training we would ensure that they are properly engaged.

“I am assuring you that, after this batch, we would again train another set of 800 youths and would continue, so as to make sure that they are adequately compensated for their sacrifice for the peace of Borno State”, he stated.

Speaking on behalf of the 632 youths volunteers, Yusuf Garba of Sector 9 expressed gratitude to Governor Shettima for his support to Borno youths, adding that since their camping at the NYSC camp, they had witness tremendous changes in their behavioural attitude when compared to their old life style.

Garba told the Governor that they would continue to respect and support security agencies towards tackling the security situation in the state by putting more effort in their work.
