The All Progressives Congress, APC, has once again erected a stature of seriousness in its bid to capture power from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in 2015 as the party last weekend, unveiled its logo in the United States of America in a highly organized and successful event. A common language that prevailed throughout the unveiling ceremony was the call by all in attendance for ways to ensure that Power, in Nigeria, changes hands in 2015, NaijaSharpNews sources have gathered.
The train of the All Progressives Congress (APC) crossed the Atlantic with the unveiling at the weekend of the APC logo in the United States of America. At the event, ,the National Leader of the Party, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu was represented by Mr. Idowu Ajanaku, while Senator Ajayi Boroffice, representing Ondo North senatorial district in the upper chamber, was the
Special Guest of Honor. At the event in Maryland, with the hall was filled to the brim, Asiwaju Tinubu averred in his speech that the APC was formed in order to rescue Nigeria from total collapse which seem imminent with the ineptitude displayed in governance by the ruling People Democratic Party for the past 15 years. This misrule, he said, has taken its toll on Nigeria and Nigerians without leaving out any sector. He said that the formation of the APC is both human and divine. “It is divine because of the way and manner the people responding to the clarion call to save Nigeria and the massive embrace Nigerians have given to the party,” Tinubu said. “The implosion currently going on in the PDP is also as a result of the arrow of confusion thrown into it by God for this monstrous, gigantic, visionless and directionless octopus cannot be allowed by God to continue to lead the people to utter destruction. In fact, God has decided to liberate the Nigerian people from the hands of this Pharaoh-like organization, hardened in impunity and corruption by afflicting them with the loss of every capacity to listen to the voice of reason or repentance. APC is not just a party but a mass movement where people of different ethnic groups, language, class, religion are welcome without any form of discrimination. It is the Peoples’ Party; it is the voice of God.”
In the human perspective, Tinubu said “This is a fulfillment of the prediction of the late sage, Chief Obafemi Awolowo, a globally accepted icon of progressive leadership in Africa, in one of his books, ‘The Hero,’ that ‘the best of the conservative and the best of the progressive will one day rule Nigeria.’ The APC has come to fulfill this prediction and will surely give Nigeria the much desired new lease of life.”
He also responded to the people who say the APC has no ideology, saying that the ideology of the party is to provide massive infrastructure, employment of the youth, restructuring of the nation, electricity and power generation and supply, which the PDP has failed to do. He called on Nigerians in the Diaspora to join their kith and kin in the country to save Nigeria and to look forward to the party forming the federal government of Nigeria in 2015.
Senator Ajayi Boroffice, in his 15-page speech titled “It is Time to Move Nigeria Forward,” saluted the courage of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, Chief Bisi Akande, General Mohamadu Buhari and Chief Ogboonaya Onu for coming together while sinking their differences to form the APC, at a great personal sacrifice in order to banish poverty, impunity and lawlessness in the country. He described them as “Great men, with great minds for this great season!”
He went further to describe the PDP as “a party without vision” and that as long as the party keeps ruling Nigeria, the country will not move forward. He cited the example of the current budget where 1.2 billion naira was budgeted for the extension of VIP clinic in Aso Rock whereas only N750m was budgeted for the teaching of hospitals of the University of Ibadan, Ilorin and Sokoto!
“The money budgeted for the Niger Delta militants is far more than the money budgeted for the Army, Air Force, Navy and Police put together. It shows that this government does not have the welfare of the people at heart,”
He concurred with Asiwaju Tinubu that the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) has become the personal ATM of President Jonathan to siphon money from the country. He said money siphoned from the country so far is more than the national budget for 3 years, running to over 300 billion dollars.
In his own speech Mr.Tony Isama, the Chairman of APC in the USA, thanked the leadership for the formation of the party and said that they have embraced the party with the unveiling of the logo in Virginia, New York, Washington, California, Atlanta and Boston among other major cities in the US. He, however, advised the leadership against the mistake of the PDP made and that the party should focus more on the people and on how to develop the country.
