Christians Arrested In Enugu Nigeria For Burning Shrines During Crusade

6 guys have been arrested in Umuaji, a village located in Ezeagu LGA of Enugu state after burning down several shrines.

According to Vanguard, the suspect who are Christian people of Umuaji burned down the pagan shrines during a powerful crusade.

The 6-man group claimed that the burnt shrines were responsible for the backwardness of their community and her indigenes, adding that they had the approval of the natives to destroy the shrines as part of spiritual cleansing of the area.

But while Christians in the area were celebrating the destruction of the shrines, the four priests in-charge of the burnt shrines reported the arson to the police which led to the arrest of Nnaeme and members of his group.

Police spokesman in the state, Ebere Amaraizu, stated that the police has commenced full scale investigations into the “incident of burning down of different sacred shrine houses in the community as well as damaging of other valuable items at Umuaji Aguobuowa in Ezeagu local Government Area of Enugu State.

He said:

“On 7/1/14 in the early hours, a group known as Indigenous Christians of Umuaji led by one Joseph Nnaeme, alias 404 gathered themselves and went on rampage during their crusade in the community and during which different sacred shrines of the community were burnt down and other valuable items damaged. Six persons have been arrested in connection with the incident just as the state command has advised members of the community to remain calm and law abiding while the investigation lasts”.

cant the so-called christians worship their God without interfering with other peoples right to worship their own God???This is exactly the DUMB-ASS religious intolerance as propagated by boko haram..soon,they will start another small time insurgency in that village,killing and maiming and destroying properties in the name of defending their moronic Gods.Funny thing is,the only thing we have succesfully copied from our colonizers is their imported religion which we propagate with so much fervour and ferocity that it has completely blinded us to the need to develop ourselves and our communities. I personally would like to also see us copy their planes,cars,computers,cleanliness,respect for the law,health-care system,roads and job creation abilities instead of instead of fighting over alien religious beliefs because that(religion) dont require any intellectual abilities

rightly said....nigeria is a country of 170 million people of different language,culture and religious believes..Its about time we start to respect our religious differences...the mentality by some that their christain religion is superior to all other religion is very shallow and myopic.everybody  is not a christain ..lets respect each other beleive system....My ultimate solution is the complete elimination of all religion and religious beleives...A WORLD WITHOUT RELIGION...

I doubt this piece of rock orcwood had anything to do with the backwardness of the town.

They should instead BLAME it on their low IQ suffered as a result of being denied the right nutrients by their parents at birth!!! Or in- breeding!


It appears they have MORE BELIEF in the POWER of the shrine more than they DO their Christ!!!!

They should go to their Church and leave the shrines alone.Society is about Morality hinging on ethics,norms and values without which they will be total chaos.Those shrines were central to the society of our ancestors from time immemorial to the present times.A people without a past are lost in the future.These useless people that burnt the shrines should be charged to Court for arson.They are not Christians.....Christianity does not tell us to burn the shrines of our fathers.
