For the timely intervention of some police officers, a mild drama which started as a misunderstanding would have degenerated into a huge fracas at the Area M of the Lagos State Police Command.
The drama began when an inspector attached to the Ikotun Police Station, Rose Alabi almost beat up one of her colleagues, Inspector Lekan over a case brought against Alabi by one Franklin Duru since April 2014.
According to a source, Alabi accused Lekan of not acting in her favour in the case despite being a “police woman” as she awalys brags.
“She accused him of instigating Duru to take strict actions against her, she said the man is not acting in her favour and refusing to give her preferential treatment as a police officer. She also threatened to deal with him after the case and if not for the timely intervention of other police officers who came around the time, she would have beaten him up. I am sure someone must have told the Area commander of the occurrence,” our source said.
When our reporter contacted Inspector Lekan, he said he is not in a position to speak to journalists on any matter whatsoever.
But further findings also revealed that Inspector Rose Alabi engages in acts that contravene ethics of the Nigerian Police Force which include threatening innocent members of the public.
When contacted, Duru, on his part, said he heard that Inspector Rose Alabi fought Lekan but he doesn’t have details of what transpired between them.
“Inspector Lekan is handling the case I brought against Rose Alabi but I don’t really know what transpired between them which I heard almost degenerated into a fight on Monday.
All I know is that Rose is owing me and I have tried all efforts including reporting her to the Area Commander and with some of her colleagues intervening but three months after I moved out of her apartment at No 2, Thank God Close off Celestial Road, Igando, Lagos, I am yet to my house rent back.
She said I had to pack out with the promise that she will pay me my money as soon as I move out of her house due mainly to her over-bearing influence, she hasn’t paid till now. I don’t know what else to do just to get my money from her. I paid her N280, 000 but she only refunded N100, 000. Meanwhile, I lived in her apartment for 34days only,” Duru explained in an emotional-laden voice.
A call to Inspector Rose Alabi almost degenerated into another drama as she hurled abuses and insults at our reporter for calling her to investigate the issue, in her words she said “If you want to investigate your case, go to Inspector Lekan that told you or whoever to tell you about me”.
When our reporter tried explaining to her that the case was brought to us by Inspector, she blew up saying “Then don’t call me to ask me questions, you’re faceless and i don’t know you…..She ended the call’
Investigations reveal that Alabi owns over four tricycles in and around the area but all do not have registration numbers and she is known to threaten people always that she is a police woman.
