The BringBackOurGirls group (BBOG) yesterday, November 18, called on the Federal Government to intensify security around places of learning across the country because of the increased spate of attacks on schools by the Boko Haram terrorists.

The group protested the killing of 48 students at a Potiskum school, Yobe State, last week by a suicide bomber.

The activists paraded to the Ministry of Education at the Federal Secretariat, FCT Abuja, to express their bitterness and grief over the massacre of the innocent students.

The protesters said that such attacks were coming at a dangerous time when provable reports had confirmed that millions of Nigerian children were out of schools, with the numbers being highest in the North East.

They held placards with graphic pictures of the scene of the bomb blast with the following writings: “Where is your soul Nigeria?”, “Stop the massacre, Nigeria protect your children”, and “Nigeria mourns Potiskum Boys”.

The BBOG group was locked out of the buildings, as no government officials came out to attend to the activists. Many officials were not allowed to drive out of the premises of the Ministry.

The #BringBackOurGirls group emerged from a campaign group in Abuja. Its purpose is to put pressure on the government to step up its efforts to find the schoolgirls, whom Boko Haram insurgents abducted in April from Chibok town.
