Surprised right? But Yes! This is very true and if you didn’t know, now you know.
Over the years, there have been calls for women and youth empowerment in the country and to a reasonable extent, these calls seems to be gradually embraced by the government. It would be recalled that the incumbent administration of President Goodluck Jonathan in July 2011 appointed 12 female minister in his cabinet amongst which includes; Mrs Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Minister of Finance and Co-ordinating Minister for the Economy, Mrs Diezani Alison-Madueke, Minister of Petroleum, Ruqqayatu Rufai, Minister of Education who was later replaced by Mr. Shekarau in 2014.
Just as the women are gradually been embraced in Nigeria’s politics, the youth are also starting to make waves. This can be seen in the swearing in of Governor Abdulaziz Yari, sworn in at the age of 42 in Zamfara state and Governor Ramallan Yero of Kaduna state, sworn in at the age of 43 in 2012.

It would also be recalled that as part of his efforts in ensuring participatory governance and bringing government to grassroot, former Governor of Ekiti State, Dr. John Kayode Fayemi appointed a former prominent student leader, Comrade Oyebode as his Special Assistant on Students’ Matters in November 2013.
Now, Nigerians might likely witnessed the swearing in of the youngest governor ever come May 29 if the PDP governorship aspirant in Niger state, Alhaji Umar Mohammed Nasko gets to emerge victorious after the elections are conducted in his state.
Born March 13, 1975 (40 years in 2days) in Ogbomosho, Oyo State, Alhaji Umar Mohammed Nasko is a native of the Magama local government area of Niger state.

From his early days at the Presidential Villa in Aso Rock, to his time serving as the Chief of Staff, government house, Niger State, Alhaji Umar Nasko is only 39 years of age and will be running for the position of Governor of Niger state under the PDP in the upcoming April 11 elections.

Instead of them to make d diference in their community, they fighting for their great grand father to presdie over us. I pray dis guy win dis election to show dat d young can also work better. I wish he is going for presidency. I will whole heartedly vote him. After dem go say hausa pple dey rule us. We from d south, have we made dis kind of effort?
