A 16-year-old boy -in company of three others- has been apprehended by the authorities for illegally running a ‘refinery’ in Ebiya, Ajaokuta Local Council, Kogi, Nigeria. The gang has since been unmasked, members including Sumaila Sadu, 23, Yusufu Braimoh, 21, Raji Muhammed Jamiu, 24, and Simon Chokodi, 16 (the teenager).
Simon Chokodi from Edo State, on speaking to newsmen, said he was a bus conductor (who was apparently lured into the ‘illegal’ oil business). Following their capture by men of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC), the PRO in the state command, Mr. Tijani Babangida has addressed newsmen saying the culprits had been declared wanted and on the run for nearly three months.
An initial ‘refinery’ of theirs had been set ablaze upon its discovery a while back, but the team rebuilt and continued the illegal refining and distribution of the product until they were recently nabbed.

We need more refinery in this country, am not saying they are right, but we can't afford to have fuel scarcity, people's lives depend on it. Especially for very poor people that find life very difficult.

The Nigerian Government have not been proactive at all. If this people have the knowledge to build a refinery, why don't the Government encourage these boys by tapping into their knowledge and leverage on it for better Nigeria.

The basic priorities of the government is people's welfare and growth, not personal greed and power, by this time we should have moved somewhere, we as Africans are more than capable to rule effectively, we should stop silly habits

I have never supported crime but in this case, I think this boy should be sent to school for a crash program and employed to help us build more refineries.
