
Troops of Sector 3, Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) under Operation Hadin Kai have neutralised a suspected informant linked to the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) in the early hours of Friday.
The operation, conducted as part of the ongoing Operation Desert Sanity IV, took place in the Karagawaru area of Kaga Local Government Area, Borno State.
According to military sources, the ambush was carried out by the 29 Task Force Brigade.
Acting on credible intelligence, the troops strategically positioned themselves at a suspected crossing point.
At approximately 12:30 a.m., they observed and engaged the suspect, believed to be gathering intelligence for Boko Haram and its ISWAP faction.
During the confrontation, the suspect was neutralised. Troops recovered a locally fabricated Dane gun and a bicycle believed to have been used by the informant for movement and surveillance activities.
The soldiers returned safely to their base at around 3:40 a.m. with no casualties reported, marking another tactical success in the fight against insurgency in the region.
