A mobile police officer identified as Corporal Adamu Abba was on Tuesday mobbed to death for murdering a tricycle operator at Gombe.
While narrating the incident, an eyewitness said the mobile policeman, who was on his motorcycle, while on his way to work, was hit by a commercial tricycle operator at Bello Sabon Kudi Junction.
An argument was said to have ensued as other tricycle operators tried to cover up for their colleague.
The source stressed that the argument, which ensued did not go down well with the Mobile Police Corporal who, shot the 37-year-old tricycle operator identified as Mallam Gana.
Gana was said to have been at the fore front of those trying to prevail on the policeman over the incident.
It was further learnt that the mobile police corporal ran into the office of the secretary of the Gombe Emirate Council for refuge from where he called his other superior colleagues for help but was forced out of the Secretary’s office and lynched prior to the arrival of the police.
Confirming the incident, the image maker of the State Police Command, DSP Fwaje Atajiri appealed to people not take laws into their hands.
He, however, condemned the action of the mobile police officer, adding that the incident was regrettable.
