Gombe: Football Match Goes Sour As A Secondary School Boy Was Shot Dead

A male student of Government Day School,  Pantami township stadium in Gombe has been shot dead after a football match.

The young man, identified as Yunusa was allegedly shot by a police officer after an inter school football competition. The match between Government Day Secondary Pilot and Science School, Gombe, ended in a clash between supporters of the two teams, PremiumTimes reports. The game master of Government Day School, Ishiyaku Kaleb, said fighting started after the match ended 1-0 against his school. The students started throwing rocks, with at least one projectile hitting an unnamed officer causing him to take a shot at the deceased.
Sani Madi, the older brother of the victim, said the family would take legal action if the school failed to act over the killing. The spokesperson for the state police command, Fwaje Atajiri, confirmed the killing, but said investigations were ongoing to establish who shot the student.
