How My Wife Drugged Me And Set Me On Fire - Husband Recounts Ordeal And Miraculous Escape

A man has recounted how his wife attempted to take his life through brutal means which he escaped miraculously.



A middle-aged man has told the police how his wife allegedly set him ablaze after she drugged him, according to the Daily Sun.

He said his wife, Kudirat Tijani, sedated him on Sunday, and set their apartment on fire with the hope that he would be burnt to death.

The victim, Abubakar Tijani, said he miraculously survived by divine intervention. It could not be ascertained why his wife allegedly wanted him dead.

He claimed that, shortly after the fire was put out late night on the fateful day, his wife rushed to his elder brother’s residence at Pasali Extension in Kuje, headquarters of Kuje Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and informed him of a fire outbreak in their apartment.

The brother, Salisu Tijani, corroborated the claim. Salisu, who reported the case at the Kuje Divisional Police headquarters, said at about 11.15pm of the fateful day, Kudirat reported to him at his residence that there was a fire outbreak in their flat.

On arrival at the scene, according to him, he met his younger brother, Abubakar, lying motionless on a bed severely burnt. He said he immediately rushed him to the Kuje General Hospital, where he was given first aid treatment before he was re­ferred to the National Hospital in central Abuja for intensive care.

Reports said it was after he had regained consciousness at the hospital that the victim gave graphic details of how his wife had allegedly wanted to dispatch him to untimely grave.

Meanwhile his wife, Kudirat, is presently telling the police her role in the incident. “It is a very serious offence and she cannot be left off the hook just like that”, FCT Police Commissioner, Wilson Inalegwu, told Daily Sun yesterday on telephone, while confirming the story.

“The victim is alive, he is responding to treatment. If he had died, they would have informed us and the offence will change from causing grievous harm to culpable homicide”, he noted in response to enquiries on the fate of the victim.

But Kudirat could not be reached for her reaction as at the time of filing this report.
