The police in Osun State in Osun State have commenced an investigation into last week’s attack on three officials of the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control in Osogbo.

The investigation is coming on the heels of a strong condemnation of the attack by Master Bakers Association, Osun State chapter, on Sunday, in Osogbo.

Chairman of the bakers’ association, Mr Abeeb Abolusodun, and Secretary, Mr, Murtala Adeeyo, in a joint statement, on Sunday, urged the police to investigate the case and bring culprits to book.

The Head of NAFDAC in Osun State, Mrs. Yedunni Adenuga; the commission’s driver, Mr. Michael Audu, and policeman attached to the Osun NAFDAC, Mr. Kareem Mukaila, were beaten thoroughly and were about being set ablaze before they were rescued by the police.

The team, which was on inspection of bakeries in Osogbo, had found a cancer-inducing bread enhancer, potassium bromate, at a bakery in Isale-Agbara area and they had attempted to take the picture when they were attacked.
