23 yr Old Poor University Student, John Paul Mwirigi, Wins Election in Kenya

A 23 yr old Kenyan man, John Paul Mwirigi, has won elections in his country despite being so poor, he could not afford to print posters.  He won the Igembe South Parliamentary seat in Meru County, Kenya. The 3rd year, University student, who contested as an independent candidate won his opponent,
Joseph Mwereria with a whopping 19,366 votes. His campaign is said to have been financed by his supporters.

I think we should embrace the idea of having independent candidates in Nigeria. The candidates will be directly accountable to the people and not their party.
