Filmmaker, Charles Novia, took to social media to lent his voice to the recent killing of football fan, Kolade Johnson, by SARS officers in Lagos. Novia while condeming the act of the SARS officer, pointed out that most Nigerians are rude to armed police officers which is very wrong. According to him, the man with a gun in his hand is to be respected for the few moments ‘he has that gun undecided on your face.’

Dumb excuse.  The Police Training School is normally satisfied that a Recruit has passed all Tests,  including Self Discipline,  before he is allowed to graduate and equally handle weapons.  The good thing however is that the policeman will pay with his life for the intentional misuse of his weapon if Loss of life is involved.

I TAKE IT YOU DIDN'T READ THE WHOLE THREAD, YOU SURE WOULDN'T HAVE MADE THIS COMMENT...   This sentence "Most Nigerians are Rude to armed police officers,  which is wrong" The quoted sentence provokes my reaction.  I hope the Actor is not expecting Nigerians to prostrate in the sight of armed policemen.  At any rate,  no matter the level of provocation,  an armed policeman is to be guided by the discipline instilled into him during his training.

Charles is very correct. Youth should learn to respect the police no matter what. Youth of these days look down on some policemen. For God's sake these men are carrying a deadly weapon and with the snap of their finger, everything is history in a second. With the way the police are been taken care of poorly in Nigeria, these men are not smiling. Some of them are angry with their job but won't quit. They carry that anger everywhere and use it on anyone who cross their path, this is one reason we should respect them first before complain. They are carrying agent of death. We should think about our life first. Obey them, let them ask all the questions or do all the searching. Its better to follow them like zombie to the police station where we can settle things with the sane men in the office than argue or use force with them. Just tips we should know.

Bro , I’m not disputing your evaluation but I have to say that , law enforcement agents have rules of engagement. This rules in whatever circumstances must be adhered and follow duly in discharging their responsibility and duty .Every policeman in the streeet must have at a point in their period of service being lectured on how to relate with different types of the public they are saddled to protect and engage at all time .As enforcement agent you must understand there r different categories of characters and in performing your public duty as a policeman it’s a must to put into consideration a violator is possibly an aggressor and this is why police are trained to understand and study every situation differently before discharging their weapons .Moreover,A policeman is not authorized to shoot at suspect unless if engaged in a shoot out or the assailant struggled to disarmed the policeman during arrest .No justification whatsoever for a police shoot at an unarmed citizen .The argument that citizen should respect the police is a responsibility of the society and in every decent society such good will abd respect should be reciprocal.Police shouid not be the public enemies and the public shouldn’t be the police enemies .The police must learn how to respect the public and the public must do same ,not untiil then we can create a harmonious society .

You are very correct as well. The truth is that even in sane society, sometimes police do make mistakes and a shot is fired and a life is lost. This happens in Europe,  the USA and other places. Until we have a police force that’s as u discribed above, then we must tread with them with caution. Recently, the Nigeria police force was ranked worst in the world. That should ring a bell in our head. For now there is no difference between a police man and an arm robber, so we must first take safety precaution of OUR LIVES as far the deadly weapon is in their hand. Anyone holding such dangerous weapon must be feared before u talk about their training. Remember that some don’t care to kill and go to jail.
