Since the commencement of the Muslim fasting, places like Abedeen, Enugu, Airport, BUK roads, which were routes for the sex workers, had been deserted.
Also, big hotels in the town, which were visited by the Nigerian Tribune, were deserted by these ladies, while their number at the hotel residence had also reduced.
When the Nigerian Tribune visited one hotel located on Enugu road, many of the girls were seen packing out.
According to the investigation conducted by the Nigerian Tribune, the “call girls,” when asked for the reasons behind their relocation, simply said “Ramadan don come and is going to cripple our work.”
One of the girls, Beatrice, who declined to give her surname, said “my friend, we have to survive. The business no be stealing.”
She told the Nigerian Tribune that many of her roommates had left immediately the Ramadan started, because it was not easy for them to pay the rent, adding that many of them had resolved to relocate to other states where Muslims were not predominant so as to continue with their business.
