The number of people in the displaced persons’ camp has also risen from 200 to 1,000.
Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Opeyemi Bamidele; his Special Duties counterpart Dr. Tola Kasali; as well as the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education, Mrs. Omolara Erogbogbo, stated this Monday while briefing reporters on the government’s emergency management efforts in Alausa, Ikeja.
Bamidele said the affected pupils were moved from Anglican Primary School, Idowo, Itowolo Primary School, Ajegunle Junior and Senior High School and some private schools in the affected neighbourhood.
He described the development as part of government's intervention efforts to give the flood victims the necessary assistance.
He added that provisions had been made for others whose parents refused to relocate in other schools in Kosofe Local Government.
The pupils, Erogbobo said, were moved to Methodist Primary School, Baptist Primary School, LG Primary School and Lagos State Model College Agbowa.
She added that some pupils were yet to show up because their parents refused to go to the relief camp in Agbowa, Ikorodu.
Mrs. Erogbogbo urged pupils who are yet to be placed in schools to report to Maidan Primary School, Mile 12 and Baptist Primary School, Kosofe Tuesday.
Kasali noted that the state government was facing healthcare challenges in Agbowa relief camp, saying that mobile clinics would be moved in immediately to take care of the victims.
The increase in the number of displaced persons’, he pointed out, had created fresh challenges, adding that more hands had been deployed in the camp.
