Sunday Igboho: Benin Republic Stops Plane Sent by President Buhari

Human rights lawyer, Femi Falana, has claimed the Benin Republic government refused to put Yoruba Nation agitator, Sunday Igboho, on a waiting plane sent by the Nigerian government.

Falana claims the Nigerian government had asked its West African neighbours to repatriate Igboho.

He stated this during an interview on BBC News Yoruba on Tuesday.

He revealed that the Beninois government had insisted that obeying the law of their land is sacrosanct.

According to Falana: “The Nigerian government asked the Benin Republic government to repatriate Sunday Igboho. In fact, we heard they had even sent an aircraft to be used to bring him down to Abuja.

“The Benin government made its Nigerian counterpart understand that this is not a lawless society.”

Igboho was arrested in Cotonou after he fled Nigeria recently.

He was arrested in an airport in Cotonou while trying to board a flight to Germany.

The Yoruba nation agitator fled Nigeria to the Benin Republic after he was declared wanted by the Department of Strate Services, DSS.
