Russian War: Nigerian Students Fleeing Ukraine Lament Racist Threats At Romania-Ukraine Border

Nigerian students fleeing Ukraine due to the Russian military invasion have recounted their ordeal at the Romania-Ukraine border.

One of them who shared a video on her Instagram on Monday captured a white man (Ukrainian) who was trying to stop their vehicle from proceeding on the journey to safety because they were blacks.

According to her, the man who exhibited racist tendencies kept circling the car ordering them to step aside while he tried to attack the person who was capturing him on camera.
Meanwhile, the Ukrainian soldiers intervened and allowed them passage, she said, adding that the British embassy promised to provide help.

The Instagram user, Lorrineskyy wrote, “We have reached the actual border between Ukraine and Romania and we are experiencing some threats of violence from some local Ukrainians who don’t believe we should enter. This man keeps circling our car. He tried to lunge for me.

“The military just knocked on our window and told us to go now so we are moving the car. The locals are complaining about us to the military and the military is assisting them. We are being compliant in order to remain safe.
“UPDATE: the British embassy has been in touch and said they will assist.”
