Addressing his supporters, Dr Saraki said: "I and all who believe in me have been forced to dump Kwara PDP and move en-masse to the ACPN, which we believe is the best platform to take the state to a greater height.
"We believe in people-oriented politics. We also have faith in a party that is committed to service delivery and will not circumvent the interest of the good people of the state.
"We have a PDP that lacks cohesion, focus, direction and is bereft of ideas on how to carry supporters along and win election.
"The situation is so bad that most of the party’s decisions are based on sentiments, instead of party guidelines and democratic norms.
"It was really an assault of epic proportion to the psyche of our teeming supporters. We have endured all these unfortunate developments. We have, in the past few months, borne the situation with unimaginable equanimity.
"We saw it as a challenge and trying moments. We did not despair, but saw it as an opportunity to aspire and get to the pinnacle of every possibility.
"It is however unfortunate that the door of the PDP has been locked against decorum and genuine members. We do not want to force the door open and be counted among those tormenting the society.
"Those involved in building the party now capitalise on the inexperience of the leadership to perpetuate themselves and turn themselves into thin gods to decide the fate of the real people on the political turf.
"It has been observed in recent times that as the general elections approach, some forces in the state PDP have begun to cause confusion and disunity among party members for selfish reasons.
"There are proven cases of political intimidation, assault of members and illegal suspension of ward executive members, which is killing the party at the grassroots.
"It is common knowledge that I am not a card-carrying member of the PDP, but we have since 2003 remained the major pillars behind the PDP in Kwara state.
"You will recall how we brought the party of obscurity to its present pedestal of being the only political party to beat in the state.
"All of us would remember how we entrenched internal democracy within the party and how we have been resolving political matters amicably without bruises.
"All these and many other attributes, for which Kwara PDP is reputed and respected, are as at today been frittered away."
The politician reiterated his support for his daughter, Senator Gbemisola Saraki’s, governorship ambition.
