Ameobi and Onuoha set to join the Super Eagles

Nigerian-born players Shola Ameobi and Nedum Onuoha have agreed to play for Nigeria.

Newcastle striker Shola Ameobi and Sunderland defender Nedum Onuoha held talks with Nigeria coach Samson Siasia and agreed to launch their international careers with the Super Eagles, but further details were still to be discussed.

According to Nigerian site “kickoffnigeria”, Siasia contacted both players by telephone and is set to meet them later this month when he travels to Europe.

Ameobi, 29, and Onuoha, 24, are Nigeria-born but have spent most of their lives in the UK, and have represented England youth teams internationally. Read More: http://indepthafrica.com/?p=5902
