The Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, has endorsed the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, LP, Peter Obi for President.

The union also called on workers across the country to Vote for the Labour Party in the 2023 presidential election which comes up on Saturday.

This was contained in a statement signed by Comrade Chris Uyot, the

National Secretary, NLC National Political Commission, President: Joseph Ajaero, General Secretary: Emmanuel Ugboaja and Treasurer: Abali Akeem Olatunji

The statement reads in part, “All Labour Political Committee members in the states are to intensify their work in mobilising workers and the Nigerian people both at the local, ward and polling units to vote for the Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi and all candidates of the Labour Party contesting the elections.

The political committees are also enjoined to work with our allies in civil society organisations and students to take all necessary steps to safeguard the people’s votes by ensuring that the electoral process is transparent, free and fair.

NLC called on workers in Local government, wards and polling unit levels to ensure that they provide at least 10 ward coordinators and canvassers to not only mobilise but defend the peoples votes.

The NLC said that Saturday’s polls promise to be the most decisive in the history of the country.

Peter Obi was at the International Conference Centre on Wednesday where all the presidential candidates of all the 18 political parties came together to sign National Peace Accord ahead of the presidential election.

The Peace Accord was signed in the presence of President Muhammadu Buhari, former Head of State Yakubu Gowon, Gen. Abdulsalami Abubakar, Bishop Matthew Kukah and members of the International community including the European Union, Switzerland, Commonwealth, African Union, amongst others.

Sensible ones amongst them won't waste their votes on a candidate who won't win.

My sincere advice to all Nigerians on Saturday is to have their mobile phones fully charged and make recordings of all events that might truncate the people's will, like vote buying; coersions by party agents; corrupt acts etc and load it on YouTube immediately. These can later be used as evidence in the near future. To the CBN governor  my advice is to block all money transfer platforms and cash withdrawals from the ATM's on election day, most especially in the vicinities of the polling booths so as to prevent vote buying. To INEC, my advice is not to allow any voter make recordings of their choice on the ballot paper to prevent them from showing it as evidence to collect payment from the vote buyers. With this I say, good luck to all the good people of Nigeria and wish you all a new dawn of good governance. Future politicians will rather work for the masses instead of their own pockets once they realised they can no longer buy the people's conscience. It will be either you do the work for which you have been elected, or get fired from office by the people in the next election. This is the real new dawn of prosperity and power will finally be returned to the hands of the true owners, the people of Nigeria
