Kenya's first lady, Rachel Ruto has declared national prayers against homosegxwality in the country.

According to Ruto, the practice is a threat to the institution of the family.

"We want to strengthen the family institution where we have a father, a mother and children. LGBTQ is forbidden even in the Bible and the African culture. Let us hold on to family values," she said on Sunday during a church service in Meru county.

Before now, the First Lady had already created a Faith Diplomacy Office which, she says, will be spreading a praying culture across the country.

She said the Faith Diplomacy Office will take prayers to the rest of the country and that a programme has been crafted "to ensure family values are protected."

"I would like us to pray on matters of family. The family has become an institution that has been very much attacked…" local media quoted the first lady in a report.

She urged Kenyans to put more focus on matters of family, as the LGBTQ debate is threatening the family structure.

The debate surrounding LGBT rights and acceptance has been ongoing in the country for quite some time now, with supporters and opponents voicing their opinions on the matter.

The western world's liberty has almost ripped all of Africa's pride in their culture, belief and so many other things we take pride in. People like this Kenyan first lady fighting for people's sense are the ones we need cos Africa as a nation or maybe continent has a lot of issues to address economically, culturally, and other things that will influence development, but not LGBTQ/homosegxwality. May GOD help us

No I am not with her, what she's doing is just a typical African way of running around the truth but never accepting it. The truth is, people are born straight, gay, bi etc.. if you're lucky to be born straight thank God cos that's the universally accepted segxwality but the ones that aren't born straight still very much exists. No one and I repeat, no one wants to be gay/ bi or sorts it is just the way their segxwality turn out not cos they chose to be so. I will rather someone is living a genuine life than living a lie cos of discrimination and bias, we've got so many men in Nigeria and Africa living with a woman but sleeping with men secretly just as so many women too. The LGBQT is real and nothing will ever change it. I'm neither gay nor bi incase you're wondering, I don't have any LGBQT friend or family. This me just accepting the truth and nothing more, everyone will not be straight, know this and know peace. Madam 1st lady, should focus on building the economy and infrastructures not on what people do with their bodies in their bedrooms.
