A 31-year-old man, Sani Ukasha, has been sentenced to three months imprisonment by an area court in Jos, Plateau State, on Thursday, May 18, after he failed to account for the whereabouts of an accused person he stood surety for. The prosecutor, Insp Ibrahim Gokwat, told the court that the surety failed to produce the accused person in a case of seasoning cubes theft in contravention of the Plateau State Penal Code.

The judge, Mr Shawomi Bokkos, sentenced Ukasha who pleaded guilty to the charge and pleaded for leniency. Bokkos, however, gave the surety an option of N10,000 fine.
