A Nigerian-American man by the name, Remi Adeleke claims that Banana Island originally belonged to his dad until the government took it away from him.
Remi Adeleke made this known in a tweet on his official Twitter page while celebrating US’s Independence Day.

According to the former US Navy Seal, his father had left Nigeria for the UK during his teens and after completing his education, he had returned a successful man with his expertise with the intention of creating a World Trade center.
However, the Nigerian government, he claims, had in 1987 illegally taken away all his assets, including his man made island which was renamed to Banana Island.
