Veteran Nollywood actress, Kate Henshaw has called for the scrapping of the NYSC scheme as she recalls her experience in her days as a corper.
In a post on her Twitter page, the actress submitted that it would be a better idea to scrap the scheme since corps members cannot travel the country without risks to their safety.
She shared experience from her time as a corper and noted how freer people could traverse the country without fear for their lives.
The fitness enthusiast contrasted it with the present time and noted that there’s no point in putting the lives of young people at risk over archaic ideas.
Her post reads …
Quote
“When I served in the North,it was a very memorable experience. Travelling from Bauchi by road to the airport was safe & then flying to Lagos just with my NYSC ID card, which also got me rebate on my ticket.
It’s time to SCRAP this idea since corpers can’t travel within this country without LET OR HINDRANCE!
Stop putting the lives of young people at risk with moribund ideas.
Security is a priority & needs to be sorted totally, not technically”

Well until Nigeria and its leaders  come to terms  with the  EXIGENCY  of the insecurity the country  experiences nothing  will work . The subsidy or anything  should be seconded to  the security of the entity Nigeria. If there is any sense of urgency, you first appreciate that the level of such violence has almost crippled the country  and until a draconian  response  is initiated to deal with it, Nigeria will remain a caricature of its past glory . The fuel subsidy inaugural address should actually been  the inauguration of command  to all security agencies to go out , at any cost to deal with the kidnapping especially, such a physical move  must be backed by  either a presidential order or a legislation that would make kidnapping of any kind a federal criminal  office punishable with death sentence or a life  behind bars. And to make it practically work, special courts  should be established to deal  with such matters. With  some  high examples of  public executions  for kidnappers backed by adequate   intelligence and informants,  kidnapping will be dealt a blow and  security will be improved. Without security Nigeria is zero.
