In a proactive move against tricycle theft, the Adamawa State Police Command has announced the arrest of six individuals suspected of receiving stolen tricycles.
According to a statement released by the command's Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Nguroje, the arrests were made on Wednesday, March 20, marking a significant milestone in the fight against this illegal activity.
The suspects, identified as Idi Abdullahi, Mohammad Tukur, Umar Hassan, Umar Yusha’u, Usman Ladan, and Abubakar Idrisa, were apprehended by officers attached to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Yola.
Idi Abdullahi, aged 20, hails from Rumde Baru, Jimeta, Yola North, while Mohammad Tukur, 21, is a resident of Rimergo, Borno State. Umar Hassan, 33, also resides in Rimergo, Borno State.
The other suspects include Umar Yusha’u, 26, from Mubi South in Adamawa State; Usman Ladan, 22, from Rumde Baru in Jimeta, Yola North; and Abubakar Idrisa, 23, from Rimergo, Borno State.
The statement emphasized that thorough investigations were conducted, leading to the prompt charging of the principal suspects to court. They have been remanded in a correctional center pending further investigation.
Commending the efforts of the Anti-Shilla Squad, the Adamawa State Commissioner of Police, CP Dankombo Morris Falling, urged the public to maintain vigilance and collaborate with the police in efforts to eradicate criminal elements from communities.
