Eyinwa Community in Odogbolu Local Government Area of Ogun State was gripped by tragedy as a man identified as Sunday Ogah, hailing from Benue State but residing in Ikorodu, Lagos, drowned in River Eyinwa. The unfortunate incident, which occurred on Saturday, prompted a swift response from local authorities and law enforcement agencies as efforts to recover the victim's body commenced.

According to SP Omolola Odutola, spokesperson for the Command, Ogah had accompanied his friend, Otusanya Abayomi, to the Eyinwa community. However, Ogah ventured to the river alone, without informing his friend, and tragically lost his life while swimming.

The news of Ogah's drowning was reported by Abayomi at the Odogbolu Divisional Police Station, triggering immediate action from the police. Despite collaborative efforts between surveillance officers and local divers, the search for Ogah's body proved unsuccessful, highlighting the challenges inherent in such endeavors.

SP Odutola emphasized the ongoing efforts to recover Ogah's body and extend support to his grieving family during this difficult time. The Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Alamutu, issued a stern warning to young individuals, urging them to exercise caution and avoid swimming in unfamiliar or dangerous waters.

Commissioner Alamutu reiterated the command's commitment to public safety and pledged to intensify efforts to prevent similar tragedies in the future. As the search continues, the community remains in mourning, grappling with the loss of Sunday Ogah and the reminder of the perils that lie within the depths of River Eyinwa.
