In a recent operation, Osun State's Amotekun Corps apprehended 25-year-old Michael Eze, a private security guard, for allegedly stealing nine air conditioners from a residence he was tasked with guarding in the Government Reservation Area (G.R.A.) of Osogbo.
The arrest, which took place early Monday morning, was confirmed through a statement by Olusola Idowu, the Public Relations Officer of Amotekun. Eze was caught red-handed while attempting to remove another air conditioner unit from the same residence.
Brigadier-General Bashir Adewinmbi, the retired Commandant of the Osun Amotekun Corps, detailed that Eze had previously sold nine split air conditioner units, valued at N400,000 each, for a meager N5,000 per unit to scrap dealers.
Following his arrest at approximately 7:30 am, Eze reportedly admitted to his crimes and provided information leading to the recovery of two of the stolen units. He also revealed the identities of the buyers involved.
Eze has since been transferred to the Department of State Security for further interrogation and expected prosecution, marking a significant step in addressing theft and security breaches in the area.
