
The Sokoto State Police Command has arrested a military officer and two others for allegedly abducting an 11- month-old child and demanding N500,000 as ransom.
The Army officer identified as Ismail, a resident of Gwiwa area, was alleged to be involved in kidnapping an 11-month-old child, also a residence of Gwiwa area of Wamakko Local Government Area of the state.
When contacted, spokesperson of the Sokoto State Police Command, ASP Ahmad Rufa’i, confirmed the arrest, saying the suspects were in Command’s Criminal Intelligent Department (CID), for further investigation.
Ismail who is serving as a military officer in Borno State told his relatives that he is on official engagement in Gusau, the Zamfara State capital but found time to visit them.
It was learnt that the suspects on Tuesday night around 2.30 am entered the residence of one Umar Balle in Gwiwa area while the family members were asleep and abducted the 11-month-old child, Hussaini and went away with child and the cell phone of the father.
