Tragedy in Bauchi

Tragedy struck yesterday in Bauchi State as a mother and her three children were killed  when  fire gutted their residence  in the early hours of  Sunday at Kandahar suburb of Bauchi metropolis.

Narrating his ordeal to Daily Sun, Mohammmed Kabir , the bereaved father and husband, said he lost his 25 year-old wife Fatima and her three children, Husseina and Hajara who were twins aged four and their last  child who was two years  old.

Mohamnmed said the fire started from  a room where an electrical appliance was left on following power outage.
The bereaved Mohammed said when the PHCN restored  electricity nobody noticed  anything as they all went to bed  only to wake up to see the whole house  enveloped by smoke.

He said with the intervention of people from neighborhood and the  state fire service, the fire was put off  but it was too late to save the lives of his wife and three children  holed up in their room as they were consumed in the inferno.

 Mohammed who could not control his emotions as he broke down in tears ,  lamented the death of his wife and children. He  however said that the tragedy that befell him was an act of  God adding the deceased have been buried according to Islamic rites.
