In a breakthrough operation, the Ogun State Police Command, led by Commissioner of Police Abiodun Alamutu, has uncovered a disturbing crime scene where victims of kidnapping were buried in a shallow grave after ransom payments.
Police Public Relations Officer Omolola Odutola confirmed the incident on Saturday, detailing the successful operation in Ijebu Igbo. According to Odutola, the arrests of Chukwuma Bartholomew and Igwe Monday, members of a notorious gang of kidnappers, followed a meticulous investigation by the anti-kidnapping squad.
The discovery of the hideout in Ijebu Igbo, executed around 6:20 pm on June 28, 2024, revealed the grim reality as victims' bodies were exhumed from a shallow grave. Both suspects were apprehended during the operation.
Odutola assured the public that the investigation is ongoing and efforts are underway to apprehend the remaining members of the gang involved in these heinous crimes. Once investigations are complete, the suspects will face prosecution in court.
The operation underscores the commitment of the Ogun State Police Command to combating kidnapping and ensuring justice for victims and their families. The public is urged to continue cooperating with law enforcement agencies by providing timely information to help apprehend criminals and prevent such atrocities in the future.
