The Oyo State Police Command has arrested a 50-year-old suspected paedophile for defiling underage girls.
According to a report published by the Nigerian Tribune on July 23, 2024, two of the girls (names withheld) when interviewed said that the suspect was the one luring them with money.
One of the minors said that there was a day the suspect convinced three other girls he was sleeping with to lure her with money.
She disclosed that the three other girls pulled her forcefully to the man’s house, forced her into his room and shut the door for him to perform the usual act.
The suspected paedophile was paraded before journalists by the Commissioner of Police, Ayodele Sonubi, last Friday during a press briefing held at the state command headquarters, Eleyele.
The suspect was reported at Orile-Igbon Divisional Headquarters on July 11, by the mother of one of the girls who claimed that her daughter, aged 11, was defiled by the suspect.
When arrested, the suspect reportedly confessed to committing the crime, and in the course of the investigation, the police discovered that the suspect had unlawful carnal knowledge of a 10-year-old girl.
This prompted the invitation of the second girl. She and the suspect confirmed the occurrence of the act.
The two girls were said to have been taken to Police Hospital, Eleyele, Ibadan, for medical examination and treatment, with the reports confirming that the hymen of each of them was no longer intact.
Further investigation revealed that the first girl lives with her paternal grandmother and two siblings aged 10 and 14, and the grandmother is hardly at home, as she stays two weeks in the farm and only a few days with the girl and her siblings.
“This gave the girl ample time to stay at the suspect’s house till very late at night. It is on that note that the girl was handed over to the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Inclusions for proper care, custody and protection," the CP stated.
“The girl also identified a red T-shirt that the suspect used to clean her genitals after the unlawful act. The suspect is to be charged to court for his crime."
In an interview with the publication, the suspect said he is from Gambari, via Ogbomoso, and a miller.
”I was arrested for having carnal knowledge of young girls. What happened was that these girls used to come to grind yam flour at my mill. As they became used to me, they would come to beg for money. They would also cook in my house and we would eat together," he said.
“They were the ones who asked me to sleep with them. Whenever I gave them N200, they would protest that it was not enough, so I would increase it to N500. They would come after closing from school and would also return later in the evening to cook and have fun.”
The suspect said that his wife was late so he lives alone. He stated further that the red cloth found in his house was the one he was using to clean his s3men after ej@culation
“If not because of money they were coming for, it was not easy to sleep with them because of their ages. For me, it was just serving as relief for s3xual urges. I would ej@culate on myself and clean it up,” he said.
He disclosed that his inappropriate acts became known when two of the girls were quarrelling over the amount he offered one of them.
"One of them said that her friend was coming to me frequently and was getting money. She said she would take her share because she was the one who brought her to me. That was how my deeds were exposed.”
He admitted that he used to sleep with them in turn when they came to his house, with one sitting close and peeping at the action going on.
One of the girls who gave her age as 11 years, told the Nigerian Tribune: “I’m in Primary 3. It was my friend who took me to the man, and he slept with me. That was about two months ago. There was a day he slept with me and my friend told me he gave us N500 to share. I rejected It, saying that he should give me my own. He said he didn’t have extra money, so I eventually shared it with my friend.
