Authorities in the Sabha District of southwestern Libya have apprehended a Nigerian national posing as a doctor, accused of providing unauthorized medical treatment to migrants.
The arrest, reported by the Migrant Rescue Watch on July 27, 2024, took place after police raided the suspect's residence. During the operation, they discovered a cache of unlawfully obtained medical supplies.
According to a statement from Migrant Rescue Watch, "On 23.07.24, police in Sabha arrested a Nigerian migrant who was impersonating a doctor and was offering medical services to the migrant community."
The suspect is currently in custody, and a criminal investigation is underway to determine the extent of his illegal activities.
Authorities have urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities, especially those that may exploit vulnerable migrant communities.
