A 35-year-old man, identified as Emmanuel Urhobocha, was found dead in his apartment on Alafia Street, Sango-Ota, in the Ado-Odo Ota Local Government Area of Ogun State, in what appears to be a case of suicide.
The Ogun State Police Command reported on Saturday that the incident occurred around 9:00 a.m. on Friday, August 30. According to the command’s spokesperson, Odutola Omolola, the tragedy came to light after Urhobocha's roommate, Obabiyi David, visited the Sango-Ota Police Division earlier that morning. David reported that Urhobocha had been behaving erratically and had attacked him with a knife, leaving him injured.
In response to the report, police officers were dispatched to Urhobocha's residence. Upon arrival, they found the room locked from the inside. After forcing the door open, they discovered Urhobocha lying face down on the floor.
Odutola explained, "He was found dead in the apartment, with a container of insecticide beside his body. He was immediately taken to a nearby hospital, but the attending doctor pronounced him dead on arrival. The body has been moved to the morgue for an autopsy, and the case is currently under investigation."
The circumstances leading to Urhobocha's death remain unclear as authorities continue to investigate the incident.
