A man, Sadiq Zubairu has been remanded by the Federal High Court sitting in Audu Bako Secretariat, Kano State for the abduction and killing of his friend, Bello Bukar,45, a staff of the Kano Electricity Distribution Company (KEDCO).

Zubairu, 35, of Hotoron Arewa Quarters, Nassarawa LGA of the state, confessed to conspiring with two others at large to kill Bello over his inability to return the N3 million he received from the deceased under the guise of securing a better job offer for him at the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS).

The suspect further confessed to taking away the deceased’s two handsets and hiding his motor vehicle valued at N12 million at a Garage in Hotoro Quarters, Kano, which has been recovered by the police.

He was arraigned by Barr. Abdussalam Dan Maidaki and charged with armed robbery and murder.

He pleaded not guilty to both charges.

The presiding judge, Justice Yusuf Ubale Muhammad, ordered his remand and adjourned the case till January 23, 2025, for witness testimony.

It was reported that Bello's family declared him missing after he left home on Sunday, May 5, 2024, and didn't return.

His corpse was later found at a location in Kumbotso Local Government Area of the state.

Bello's younger brother, Abdullahi Abubakar, said the deceased was at home when he received an urgent call from the suspect, who was his confidant and former colleague.

The command spokesperson, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, said that Sadiq had deceitfully collected N3m from late Bello on the pretext that he would secure a better job offer for him.

According to the PPRO, Sadiq confessed that he had no means of returning the money to the deceased so he hired two hefty men, conspired with them, and killed Bello.
