
The Federal Government has earmarked ₦960 billion for maintaining defence aircraft and procuring security equipment in the proposed 2025 budget, signaling its commitment to strengthening national security.
The allocations, spread across key security agencies, include ₦438.8 billion for the Nigeria Immigration Service, ₦110.2 billion for Army defence equipment, ₦70.4 billion for Air Force defence equipment, and ₦39.4 billion for Navy defence equipment.
The 2025 budget, tagged the **“Budget of Restoration,”** reserves ₦4.91 trillion for defence and security, aimed at combating insurgency, banditry, and other pressing security challenges across the nation.
A notable ₦13.9 billion has been dedicated to aircraft maintenance and fuel, while ₦51.5 billion will fund arms, ammunition, and protective gear for personnel.
Analysts believe the allocations highlight the government’s focus on enhancing the operational capacity of the armed forces and security agencies to address evolving threats. Stakeholders have called for efficient utilization of the funds to ensure impactful results in bolstering national security.
The budget now awaits legislative approval as security remains a top priority for Nigeria in the coming year.
