Darlington’s lawyer, Stan Alieke, has spoken out regarding the rapper’s ongoing detention despite a court granting him bail
In a video shared on Instagram, Alieke suggested that Burna Boy may have influenced the situation by allegedly bribing police officers. He claimed that during Burna Boy’s initial visit to the police station, the artist gave officers bundles of cash.
Expressing his frustration, Alieke lamented the lack of support from influential individuals to secure Speed Darlington’s release, noting that he has exhausted all his personal connections.
He highlighted a court ruling in the case (Suit No: FHC/ABJ/CS/1832/2024) where Justice Liman of the Federal High Court, Abuja, ordered the rapper’s unconditional release within 48 hours. However, he criticized the police for deliberately ignoring the court’s directive.
He captioned: “In suit No; FHC/ABJ/CS/1832/2024, between Darlington Achakpo v IGP, Hon Justice Liman of the Federal High Court, Abuja on monday, the 23/12/20240 ruled that Akpi should be granted unconditional bail by the police within the next 48 hours but the Police have wilfully disregarded the order of the court.
