Abosede Aloba, mother of the late singer Ilerioluwa Aloba popularly known as Mohbad, and actor Yomi Fabiyi engaged in a heated exchange on Wednesday over the circumstances surrounding the singer’s death.
The confrontation occurred during a World Press Conference organised by Fabiyi at Radisson Blu in Ikeja, Lagos State, where he demanded justice for the late singer.
Fabiyi alleged that Mohbad’s brother, Adura Aloba, messaged him on Instagram, claiming to know the true cause of the singer’s death.
However, Mrs. Aloba denied the allegation, stating that Adura knew nothing about his brother’s death. She accused Fabiyi of attempting to implicate her surviving son unjustly.
Pointing at Fabiyi in anger, Mrs. Aloba said, “They killed Mohbad, and you want me to lose his brother unjustly. He knows nothing about his brother’s death, do not implicate my son.”
Visibly emotional, she added, “I am not happy that I lost Mohbad because if he were alive, I wouldn’t be sitting here with you. They took my precious gift away, and I won’t let them take Adura too.”
In response, Fabiyi clarified that his focus was not on who sent the alleged message but on its content. The actor maintained his belief that the message could have been sent by Adura.
Mohbad died under controversial circumstances on September 11, 2023, at the age of 26.
