A woman has shared her harrowing experience with highway robbers who forced her to choose between her life and her valuables during an early morning attack along the Ijaye/Ajala road in Lagos.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), the victim detailed how the incident unfolded at approximately 7:25 a.m. She was held at gunpoint and knife-point by the robbers, who demanded she surrender her belongings. Fearing for her life, she handed over her iPhone, iPad, and cash.
“Exactly around 7:25 a.m. – 7:30 a.m. today, along Ijaye/Ajala road, highway robbers made me choose between my life or valuables,” she wrote, describing the traumatic ordeal.
After the robbery, the woman managed to track her stolen iPhone using her iPad. She revealed that the device was traced to the Iba Badagry area, though the robbers had been unable to fully access the phone due to her quick actions in locking it.
“We have been trying to use my iPad to track down my iPhone they took alongside money. The phone is in the Iba Badagry area; they haven’t been able to access it properly after we managed to lock it,” she explained.
She appealed to the public for help in retrieving her stolen items, especially her phone, which contains critical documents.
“They tried accessing my Gmail and accounts, but we have those locked and retrieved already. Please, I don’t know how y’all can help me, but I am traumatized and in shock. I have a lot of important documents on that phone,” she pleaded.
The post has since sparked widespread concern, with many social media users offering words of comfort and suggestions for recovery. Some urged the victim to report the incident to the police for further investigation.
This incident underscores the growing insecurity on Lagos roads, as many commuters continue to fall victim to armed robberies.
