Peter Obi, the presidential candidate for the Labour Party in the 2023 election, has criticized the Nigerian government, claiming that there are more “Yahoo people” in positions of power than there are outside the system.

Obi made the statement during an event in Lagos on Saturday, where he expressed his concerns over the state of governance in Nigeria. He argued that those in power have turned the entire nation into a "crime scene," with corruption and illegal activities running rampant both inside and outside the government.

Quote
"Don’t think when we talk about vices, it is only Yahoo boys,"
Obi stated.
Quote
"There are actually more Yahoo people in government than there are outside because we have turned the entire country into a crime scene where people inside are stealing and people outside are stealing."

The former governor of Anambra State further emphasized the need for strong leadership in the country, urging that good governance is about "having a strong character" and the ability to do what is right, even when it is difficult.

Obi's remarks come amid growing concerns over corruption and the lack of accountability in Nigerian leadership, with many citizens calling for reform and transparency in governance.
