Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Kano State have arrested 18 suspected drug dealers and seized various illicit substances in a sweeping crackdown on drug-related crimes.
The command’s spokesperson, Sadiq Muhammad-Maigatari, confirmed the arrests in a statement on Friday, quoting the NDLEA state commander, Abubakar Idris-Ahmad.
According to Idris-Ahmad, the operation took place on January 30, targeting several notorious drug hubs, including Fagge, Kwarin Kaya, Kofar Wambai, and Kofar Mata.
“The raid at Kwarin Kaya was particularly intense, as some individuals attempted to intimidate our officers from a distance. However, our team remained resolute, ensuring the operation continued without incident,” Idris-Ahmad stated.
Recovered substances included significant quantities of cannabis sativa and rubber solution, commonly abused in the region.
The NDLEA emphasized its commitment to combating drug trafficking and ensuring Kano remains free from illicit substances, urging residents to support the agency’s efforts in curbing drug-related crimes.
