Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) made a major drug bust in Niger State on Wednesday, May 7, after intercepting a fuel tanker and three other vehicles loaded with a massive 3,047 kilograms of skunk—a potent strain of cannabis—along the Suleja-Kaduna expressway.
The operation, based on actionable intelligence, led to the arrest of four suspects identified as Christopher Onyema (47), Benedict Etineruba Young (54), Chukwudi Ujue Jerry (30), and Mohammed Abdullahi Danasabe.
NDLEA spokesperson Femi Babafemi confirmed the seizure and revealed that the intercepted vehicles included a fuel truck bearing registration number ABJ 693 XU, a Honda Odyssey with plate number YAB 667 CZ, a Volkswagen Gulf bus marked GWA 125 TQ, and another Honda Odyssey registered as ABJ 230 CN.
The latest interception underscores the agency’s continued crackdown on large-scale drug trafficking operations across the country, particularly those using disguised transport methods to evade detection.
