English giants Arsenal are reportedly keen to sign Nigeria defender Taye Taiwo from Marseille in the summer to replace left-back Gael Clichy. Taiwo has been in the news lately, attracting interests from Liverpool, Newcastle, Fernerbahce, Atletico Madrid, Everton, Sporting Lisbon, Benfica and other sides in Europe. According to People.co.uk on Sunday, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger sees the powerful player as a perfect replacement for Clichy if he leaves the London club at the end of the season. Wenger fears Clichy, who has refused to enter contract new talks with the Gunners, may be out to run down his contract and leave for nothing in the summer of 2012. Marseille have allowed Taiwo to talk to foreign clubs since January and it has been reported that the Gunners have already been talking to the Super Eagles left-back and his agent about a move to the Emirates. Taiwo is vastly experienced, having played 40 games for Nigeria, and has twice been named in the French Team-of-the-Year in the last three seasons. The 25-year-old won the Ligue 1 and League Cup double with Marseille last season
