ITT: Nigerians Abroad Demand Ministerial Slots

A group of Nigerians living in the Diaspora has asked President Goodluck Jonathan to give a ministerial slot in the next political dispensation to one of them to enable the nation to tap from their wealth of experience.

Coordinator of Goodluck4Nigerians Movement, Mr. Charles Sylvester, told THE PUNCH in a telephone interview from his London base on Thursday that Nigerians in Diaspora had contributed immensely to the development of the country.

He said it was on record that Nigerians living abroad repatriated over $10 billion yearly and as such should have a say in the running of the country.

Hpoea, this ur k means what. Let them tell the goverment to make Nigeria a little like diaspora not to have a say in running of govt but rather to make it habitable and crime free.

Exactly what Nigeria needs. That is called change. Most renowned universities in the western world have elite Nigerians educating other countries' children, dissipating their abundant knowledge in science etc, while uneducated Nigerians usurp the leadership of our dear country.
Nigerians in Diasporas are behind the change that brought Goodluck Jonathan in for transparent governance. Most of them are men and women who have established their credibility and developed themselves enough for recognition by outside world. They are the people who would solve Nigerian corruption problem. They have sound values, good leadership etiquette and respect for humanity.

Instead of importing personnel from other country, these groups of Nigerian could train our own people and limit importation of knowledge. That said, the president, GEJ, should have a serious screening of anybody coming home to take the ministerial job. Not just everybody who wants the job, but whoever qualifies and honestly has the interest of the suffering Nigerians at heart.

Was it the group that sent the 10 billion USD to Nigeria?

These kind of people never cease to amaze me.

I advice them to use their credentials to lobby for appointments
and stop using the media to advertise their stupidity.

Some Nigerians abroad were recently appointments VC's to the newly
created FG universities without even lobbying.

Nigeria needs change and change could not from within the same people who would still "do business as usual with ministerial jobs". Most Nigerians in diasporas have already made name and fortune, most of them just want to bring a change of leadership - not opportunity for self enrichment. If GEJ appoints the dirty politicians at home, Nigeria would still remain economically stagnant. It does not have to be the people in agbada, but some elite and wealthy Nigerians living abroad, and have the best interest of Nigerian populace at heart.

"Think of what you can do to revitalize the failed Nigerian economy not how your self interest would embezzle the resources of the country". This has been the trend of politics in Nigeria: shall we then blame this on the corrupt politicians at home, or on Nigerian citizens who left the country to better their lives? Who wrecked the Nigerian economy, politicians at home or Nigerians in diasporas? Since there are no jobs in Nigeria, who supports majority of our families at home, the politicians at home or the sons and daughters living abroad? We need to think before we talk.
