Group urges Obasanjo to quit BoT chair • To allow S’West pick PDP chairmanship

To placate the South West which has lost out in the People Democratic Party (PDP) zoning arrangement against the backdrop of emergence of Hon. Aminu Tambuwal as speaker of the House of Representatives, a group has advised the ruling party to give the position of national chairman to the zone.

To achieve this, a group, Advocates for Good Governance, called on former President and chairman, PDP Board of Trustees, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, to resign to enable his zone pick a strategic portfolio in the party.
Addressing journalists yesterday in Abuja, National coordinator of the forum, Dr. Henry Ugochukwu, appealed to the party to concede the chairmanship slot to the zone pending when it might have decided to overhaul its current zoning arrangement which was altered on Monday with the emergence of Hon. Tambuwal and Hon. Emeka Ihedioha from North-West and South-East, respectively, as Speaker and Deputy Speaker respectively.

“We are of the opinion that if the party for now can allow the chairmanship to go to the South-West pending the time it will come out with a new zoning arrangement, it will not only address the injustice done to the zone with the unfolding political events, but will also create stability in the party and in the country in general.
