Mind over matter. Sleeping with a corpse could be manageable, but if its starting to decompose, the room should be very very cold. The culture is wanting to treat the woman with respect. The man was comfortable enough to accomodate her when she was alive and had a relationship amidst having a good family with a wife and children. This is only on earth, imagine the penalty if he has done wrong, and has not repented appropriately before 'after-life'? God is fair and just, he lets him get this discomfort during his lifetime, and not afterwards. Richness, money can be gained back, he just needs to be strong. Just do the right thing. He has taken her into his "care" by providing a home - ie. rented it out for her, and paid dues for her brother whom is in his school -all actions not surmountable to him (not his responsibility) but only for his wife, children and rightful siblings. He did not have consent with the woman's family when he did all these for her then. Ofcourse, he was not wrong if he hadn't expected any "favours" back from the deceased woman, that he only did all those out of the sincerity of his heart and for God and the sake of humanity. I don't know that Ibom culture in depth but from the professor's explanation, it has taken steps to make their girls and women respectably treated. Interesting how good seems bad and how bad can seem to be good. Devil has a smart ways to entice and distracts human from going to heaven and doing the right thing.
